Second Stage Round 4: Galati - Focsani 106-78
Date: February 29, 2020
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Galati and bottom-ranked Focsani had identical 0-3 record. This time Galati used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Focsani 106-78 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Galati led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Focsani's 34. They outrebounded Focsani 38-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Galati looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Chris Porter-Bunton (196-95, college: Austin Peay) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Serbian swingman Mihajlo Bogdanovic (197-96) who added 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Galati players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Donovan Smith (206, college: Quinnipiac) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import Akim Mitchell (197-96, college: Hampton) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Galati (1-3) left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with Medias. It was Focsani's fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. Galati will face Medias (#4) on the road in the next round. Focsani will play against Voluntari and hopes to get finally their first victory.
