Regular Season Round 21: Turk Telekom - Pinar Karsiyaka 62-77

There was no surprise in Ankara where 9th ranked Turk Telekom (10-10) was defeated by second ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (17-3) 77-62 on Sunday. Pinar Karsiyaka outrebounded Turk Telekom 36-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Senegalese-French Amath MBaye (205-89, college: Oklahoma) who scored 21 points. American-Slovenian power forward Jordan Morgan (203-91, college: Michigan) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Pinar Karsiyaka's coach Ufuk Sarica used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was French center Moustapha Fall (218-92) who recorded 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Canadian power forward Kyle Wiltjer (208-92, college: Gonzaga) added 20 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) respectively. Pinar Karsiyaka have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 17-3 record having just one point less than leader Anadolu Efes. Loser Turk Telekom dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Pinar Karsiyaka will face Acibadem (#14) in Istanbul in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Turk Telekom's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Ankara to the arena OGM Orman.
