Date: March 1, 2020
Leader Bayern Muenchen delivered the eighteenth win on Sunday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked EWE Baskets (12-7) 79-58. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of EWE Baskets. Bayern Muenchen made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Bayern Muenchen especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The best player for the winners was American center Greg Monroe (211-90, college: Georgetown) who scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Paul Zipser (203-94, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 15 points. Four Bayern Muenchen players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Austrian-Slovenian center Rasid Mahalbasic (211-90, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Braydon Hobbs (196-89, college: Bellarmine) added 9 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 18-2 record. EWE Baskets at the other side keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Bayern Muenchen are looking forward to face BBC Bayreuth (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. EWE Baskets will play against SC Rasta Vechta (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
