We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Wuerzburg where 5th ranked Bonn/Rh. (4-9) was defeated by sixth ranked Akademie (4-9) 80-71 on Sunday. Akademie forced 20 Bonn/Rh. turnovers and outrebounded them 51-28 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Lukas Roth (186-2) fired 18 points for the winners. Center Yannick Mergler (200-2) chipped in 8 points and 11 rebounds. Lithuanian guard Simonas Lukosius (196-2) produced 23 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and point guard Noah Voelzgen (185-2) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Akademie have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Bonn/Rh. and Braunschweig. Bonn/Rh. lost third consecutive game. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
