Regular Season Round 15: K.Sokoly - Khimik 77-76

Date: March 1, 2020
Bottom-ranked K.Sokoly managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of four consecutive losses on Sunday night. This time newly promoted K.Sokoly edged fifth-ranked Khimik in Kharkiv 77-76. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-76. Strangely Khimik outrebounded K.Sokoly 44-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Kareem Jamar (194-92, college: Montana) who led the winners and scored 28 points and 9 assists. His fellow American import forward Delwan Graham (203-88, college: Jacksonville) accounted for 23 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Lewis Sullivan (201-95, college: UAB) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and Nigerian power forward Avery Ugba (204-94, college: Austin Peay) added 20 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Khimik in the defeat. Khimik's coach Vitaly Stepanovski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted K.Sokoly maintains ninth place with 3-21 record. Defending champion Khimik dropped to the fourth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Odessa. K.Sokoly will meet at home higher ranked Kyiv Basket (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Khimik will play against Odessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
