Second Stage Round 9: Arad - Sf.Gheorghe 70-85

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Arad. First ranked Sf.Gheorghe faced 3rd placed Arad. Guests from Sfantu Gheorghe (13-1) defeated host Arad (9-5) 85-70. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Arad. It was a great shooting night for Sf.Gheorghe especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was American-North Macedonian Chrissy Givens (180-85, college: MTSU) who scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. Montenegrin forward Jovana Pasic (180-92) chipped in 17 points. Sf.Gheorghe's coach Zoran Mikes used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Caliya Robinson (190, college: Georgia) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized Cypriot guard Veatriki Akathiotou (166-95) added 16 points and 5 assists respectively. Four Arad players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-1 record. Arad at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Sf.Gheorghe are looking forward to face league's second-placed Satu Mare at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Arad will play against Brasov and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
