Second Stage Round 9: Neptunas-Akv. - Vytis 90-89

Important game to mention about took place in Klaipeda. Fourth ranked Neptunas-Akv. (21-16) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Vytis (18-19) 90-89 on Thursday evening. Neptunas-Akv. players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for Klaidas Metrikis (204-0) who saved his team from a defeat with 21 points and 5 assists. Center Vytautas Sarakauskas (204-82) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Guard Paulius Beliavicius (196-88) answered with 27 points and 6 assists and the former international center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Vytis. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vytis' coach Erikas Kuciauskas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Neptunas-Akv. maintains fourth place with 21-16 record. Vytis at the other side keeps the sixth position with 19 games lost. Neptunas-Akv. will play against league's leader Telsiai in Telsiu in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vytis will play at home against Delikatesas (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
