Regular Season Round 23: Rendsburg - Vechta 2 75-80

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Rendsburg (5-16) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Vechta-2 (7-13) 80-75 on Saturday. Vechta-2 outrebounded Rendsburg 39-27 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for center Malte Giljan (205-95) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Swingman Luc Van-Slooten (203-2, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) helped adding 18 points and 5 rebounds. Five Vechta-2 players scored in double figures. American guard Garrett Jefferson (190-91, college: CBU) responded with 30 points and 5 rebounds and French forward Cedric Perry (195-97, college: Pasco-Hernando CC) scored 12 points. Rendsburg's coach Bjarne Homfeldt rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vechta-2 maintains ninth place in North with 7-13 record. Loser Rendsburg dropped to the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Vechta-2 will face higher ranked Aschersleben (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rendsburg will play against Langenhagen (#5) and hope to win that game.
