Regular Season Round 14: Frankivsk - Dynamo-NPU 73-65

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Dynamo-NPU (9-7) against fifth ranked Frankivsk (4-13) on Saturday night. Visiting Dynamo-NPU was defeated by Frankivsk in a tough game in Ivano-Frankivsk 65-73. It looked good early as Dynamo-NPU took a 14-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Frankivsk had a 35-10 second period charge getting the lead and Dynamo-NPU was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-73. Frankivsk made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The former international guard Arina Bilotserkivska (170-89) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and Karina-Anastasiya Nechval (-2) supported her with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Five Frankivsk players scored in double figures. Even 22 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Ashley Morrissette (175-95, college: Purdue) did not help to save the game for Dynamo-NPU. Her fellow American import guard Allazia Blockton (183, college: Marquette) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Frankivsk maintains fifth position with 4-13 record. Defending champion Dynamo-NPU keeps the second place with seven games lost. Frankivsk will play against higher ranked Interkhim (#4) in Odessa in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Dynamo-NPU will play on the road against Chaika in Berdiansk and hopes to get back on the winning track.
