The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Cluj Napoca as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Oradea) loss. Cluj Napoca edged leader Oradea at home 89-88. It ended at the same time the 14-game winning streak of Oradea. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It looked good early as Oradea took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Cluj Napoca had a 27-18 second period charge getting the lead and Oradea was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 88-89. Cluj Napoca made 22-of-29 charity shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Oradea was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Lithuanian forward Donatas Tarolis (203-94) saved the victory by scoring 24 points and 5 rebounds. American swingman LJ Peak (196-96, college: Georgetown, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Aaron Broussard (196-90, college: Seattle) answered with 19 points and 9 rebounds and international guard Kris Richard (196-89, college: Tulane) added 22 points in the effort for Oradea. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with defeated Oradea. Oradea will play next round against Timisoara trying to get back on the winning streak. Cluj Napoca will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked CS Dinamo Bucuresti at home.
