An interesting game where Galati (#5) beat host Medias (#4) 74-67 on Saturday evening. Medias were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 23-14 charge of Galati, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American swingman Chris Porter-Bunton (196-95, college: Austin Peay) stepped up and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Serbian swingman Mihajlo Bogdanovic (197-96) chipped in 20 points. Galati's coach Eugen Ilie used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian guard Stefan Nikolic (193-87) responded with 16 points and 6 assists and the former international point guard Octavian Calota (185-84) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Galati (2-3) moved-up to fourth place. Medias lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Galati will meet league's leader Pitesti on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Medias will play against Voluntari (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
