Regular Season Round 23: Regnitztal - Treuchtlingen 103-82

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Treuchtlingen (10-11) was crushed on the road by eleventh ranked Regnitztal (9-11) 103-82 on Saturday. Regnitztal dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Treuchtlingen's 46. They outrebounded Treuchtlingen 43-27 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Regnitztal looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Treuchtlingen's players. It was a great evening for point guard Elias Baggette (185-2) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 8 assists. Adrian Bergmann (199-1) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds. Regnitztal's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. Forward Stefan Schmoll (196-89) responded with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots) and Lucca Woerrlein scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Regnitztal moved-up to tenth place in South-East, which they share with Herzogenaurach. Loser Treuchtlingen dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. Regnitztal will face higher ranked Schwabing (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
