Regular Season Round 22: Belenenses CF - Braga 89-67

Bottom-ranked Braga (0-21) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 89-67 loss to seventh ranked Belenenses CF (12-8) in Lisbon. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Braga's 36. Belenenses CF players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 2 passes made by Braga's players. The former international Henrique Piedade (189-94) notched 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American forward Charles Tripp (203-97, college: W.Alabama) supported him with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Tripp is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Belenenses CF players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 8 rebounds by Sidney Correia did not help to save the game for Braga. Forward Joao Malheiro (192-99) added 15 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Belenenses CF moved-up to fifth place. Braga at the other side still closes the standings. Belenenses CF's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Povoa at home and it may be quite challenging game. Braga will play against Olhanense (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
