Regular Season Round 22: Petkim - Final Spor 94-90

An interesting game for Socar Petkim (17-5) which hosted in Petkim 4th ranked Final Spor (13-9). Second ranked Socar Petkim managed to get a 4-point victory 94-90. Socar Petkim dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Final Spor's 34. They outrebounded Final Spor 56-36 including 20 on the offensive glass. Final Spor was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Hakan Yapar (202-84) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Yancy Gates (206-89, college: Cincinnati) chipped in 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Marlain Veal (175-96, college: SE Louisiana) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (made all of his seven free throws) and Senegalese forward Abdoulaye Gueye (206-94, college: Georgia Tech) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Socar Petkim and four Final Spor players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Socar Petkim maintains second position with 17-5 record behind leader Fethiye. Final Spor at the other side keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Bandirma BK and Akhisar Bld. Socar Petkim will play against Manisa (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Final Spor will play against Konyaspor (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
