Rather expected game when 6th ranked Timisoara (5-13) was defeated at home by third ranked Sibiu (12-7) 71-61 on Sunday. Timisoara was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 19-7 charge of Sibiu, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Timisoara to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Timisoara 42-26 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Randal Falker (201-85, college: SIU) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Sherwood Brown (193-91, college: FGCU) produced 24 points and 8 rebounds and guard Troy Franklin (183-89, college: Coppin St.) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Sibiu maintains third place with 12-7 record having just two points less than leader Constanta. Timisoara lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Sibiu will face Steaua B. (#5) in Bucuresti in the next round. Timisoara will play on the road against the league's second-placed Oradea and hope to win that game.
