Regular Season Round 19: Shumen - Chavdar 99-61

An exciting game was played in Shumen. First ranked Shumen faced their biggest opponent Chavdar. Host Shumen (15-2) smashed guests from Troyan (13-6) 99-61. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Chavdar. Shumen dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Chavdar's 32 and made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Shumen forced 20 Chavdar turnovers and outrebounded them 52-35 including a 41-30 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Krasimir Dimitrov (195-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Swingman Viktor Serafimov (190-0) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Four Shumen players scored in double figures. Shumen's coach zvonko Papak felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Georgi Damyanov (184-99) answered with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Nikolay Marinov (192-99) added 14 points in the effort for Chavdar. Shumen have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-2 record. Chavdar at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Shumen will play against Slavia (#3) in Sofia in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Chavdar will play at home against CSKA and hopes to get back on the winning track.
