Regular Season Round 25: Botas - Fenerbahce G. 72-78

Everything could happen in Adana at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Fenerbahce G. and 11th ranked Botas had identical 8-15 record. But Botas was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Istanbul 78-72 on Friday night. Fenerbahce G. made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Ukrainian center Olena Staschuk (192-85, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) nailed a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 18 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks for the winning side and point guard Duygu Ozen (168-1, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) accounted for 10 points, 6 assists and 7 steals. American center Tearra Banks (188-95, college: Austin Peay) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and Betul Kutlu (170-97) added 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Botas in the defeat. Fenerbahce G. (9-15) moved-up to eleventh place. Botas lost their third game in a row. Botas at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Fenerbahce G. will meet at home higher ranked Edremit (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Botas will play against Urla BLD (#15) in Izmir and hope to secure a win.
