Regular Season Round 24: Fethiye - Merkezefendi 88-106

Top ranked Fethiye (19-5) recorded its fifth loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Merkezefendi (17-7) 106-88. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Fethiye. Merkezefendi made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a good game for the former international Umit Sonkol (206-82) who led his team to a victory with 31 points and 9 rebounds. Altan Erol (195-83) contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American point guard Erick Neal (178-95, college: UT Arlington) replied with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and center Sercan Ergin (197-83) added 18 points in the effort for Fethiye. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Merkezefendi have an impressive six-game winning streak. Newly promoted Merkezefendi maintains third position with 17-7 record having just two points less than leader Petkim. Fethiye at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still keeps top place with five games lost. They share the position with Petkim. Merkezefendi will play against Ankara B. (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Fethiye will play against Bornova Bld (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
