Regular Season Round 2: Recklinghausen - Bonn 2 88-89

A very interesting game took place in Recklinghausen. It ended with only one-point home defeat of Recklinghausen to Bonn 2 89-88 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Strangely Recklinghausen outrebounded Bonn 2 58-39 including a 25-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jeremy Lewis (185-86, college: St.Thomas, TX) who scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Philipp Gruber (193-96) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Lewis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Bonn 2's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Dutch forward Tyson Kanseyo (203-95, college: Azusa Pacific) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 22 rebounds and point guard Niklas Meesmann (186-98) added 33 points (!!!) and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Bonn 2's next round opponent will be Dorsten on the road, which may be the game of the day. Recklinghausen will play against Hamm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
