There was an upset when Wolfenbuettel (1-1) was defeated at home by Aschersleben (1-0) 92-78 on Saturday. Aschersleben looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Wolfenbuettel's players. It was a great evening for American forward Pierce Cumpstone (203-94, college: Stonehill) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Naturalized Congolese forward Blanchard Obiango (202-88) helped adding 21 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American point guard Keith Hayes-II (178, college: William Jewell) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Elias Gueldenhaupt (191-95) scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. Four Wolfenbuettel players scored in double figures. Aschersleben will face Wolmirstedt (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wolfenbuettel will play against Bramsche (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
