Regular Season Round 2: Petkim - Afyon 78-81

A very close game took place in Petkim (derby !!!) between Afyon Bld and Socar Petkim. Afyon Bld got a very close victory on the road over Socar Petkim. Afyon Bld managed to escape with a 3-point win 81-78 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. American point guard Chris Wright (185-89, college: Georgetown) notched 24 points and 6 assists to lead the effort and Mexican Francisco Cruz (191-89, college: Wyoming) supported him with 18 points and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) by American center Steve Zack (210-92, college: La Salle) did not help to save the game for Socar Petkim. His fellow American import guard Kendrick Ray (188-94, college: KSU) added 26 points for the hosts. Socar Petkim's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Afyon Bld will meet Fenerbahce in the next round. Socar Petkim will play against Pinar Karsiyaka and hope to win that game.
