Regular Season Round 3: Hagen BG - Herford 80-97

There was a minor upset when Hagen BG (1-1) was defeated at home by Herford (1-1) 97-80 on Friday. Herford dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Hagen BG's 30. Hagen BG was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Lithuanian forward Dainius Zvinklys (203-90) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds. Lithuanian forward Vaidotas Volkus (203-85, college: Redlands CC) helped adding 15 points. Four Herford players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Salathiel Ligons (201-84) with 10 points and 5 rebounds and guard Yannick Opitz (186-90) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Hagen BG's coach Kosta Filippou let to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Herford will face Recklinghausen (#8) at home in the next round.
