No shocking result in a game when eleventh ranked Hertener Loewen (2-2) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Hamm (0-4) 85-74 on Sunday. Hamm was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Lavon Hightower (198-96, college: MWSU) fired a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for the winners. Andrew Lundstroem chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Hertener Loewen players scored in double figures. Hertener Loewen's coach Cedric Huesken used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Till Hornscheidt (184-1) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds and Canadian-Polish forward Konrad Tota (196-80, college: Dickinson St.) added 22 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) respectively for lost side. Hertener Loewen moved-up to seventh place in West, which they share with Bonn 2. Newly promoted Hamm still closes the standings with four games lost. Hertener Loewen will face Herford (#9) at home in the next round. Hamm will play against Dorsten (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
