Very important is a home loss of Mazeikiai against Vytis on Thursday night. Host Mazeikiai was crushed by Vytis in Mazeikiai 99-63. Vytis dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Mazeikiai's 30. They outrebounded Mazeikiai 36-22 including a 32-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vytis looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The former international center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) stepped up and scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and center Aurelijus Pukelis (205-94) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Five Vytis players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Ernestas Narusevicius (207-1) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds and Augustinas Venckus (190-97) scored 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vytis will meet at home Telsiai in the next round. Mazeikiai will play against Neptunas-Akv. in Klaipeda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
