Regular Season Round 3: Wels - Timberwolves 89-73
Date: October 17, 2020
There was no surprise when Timberwolves (1-2) were defeated on the road by Raiffeisen Flyers Wels (2-0) 89-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Raiffeisen Flyers Wels. Timberwolves managed to win second period 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels dominated on the defensive end, holding Timberwolves to just 7 points in first quarter. They made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for the former international center Davor Lamesic (205-83, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). German guard Christian von-Fintel (190-90) helped adding 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Raiffeisen Flyers Wels players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Bosnian forward Nemanja Nikolic (202-89) with 18 points and 6 rebounds and forward Philipp DAngelo (198-89) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels will meet Gunners Oberwart (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Timberwolves will play against Gmunden Swans and hope to win that game.
