Regular Season Round 5: Neptunas - Rytas 60-98

Leader Rytas delivered the sixth win on Saturday night. This time they crushed 7th ranked Neptunas (2-4) 98-60 in Klaipeda. The game without a history. Rytas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Neptunas' 16. Rytas forced 21 Neptunas turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 57.7 percentage. Rytas looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Neptunas' players. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Mindaugas Girdziunas (188-89) who scored 16 points and 5 assists. International Arnas Butkevicius (197-92) chipped in 13 points. Four Rytas players scored in double figures. Tadas Pazera (194-98) produced 14 points and 4 assists and center Benas Griciunas (210-94, college: EWU) added 4 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rytas (6-1) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place. Neptunas lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with P.Zvaigzdes. Rytas are looking forward to face league's second-placed Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Neptunas will have a break next round.
