Regular Season Round 4: Izmit - Botas 57-72

The most surprising game was the first loss of Izmit (3-1) in Kocaeli on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by tenth ranked Botas (2-2) 72-57. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Izmit. Botas dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Izmit's 22. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Isil Alben (170-86) who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and American power forward Elizabeth Williams (190-93, college: Duke) who added 17 points and 6 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side Montenegrin forward Milica Jovanovic (189-89) responded with 14 points and the former international forward Elif Emirtekin (184-94) scored 14 points. Botas moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Besiktas and Ormanspor. Izmit at the other side keeps the third position with one game lost. They share it with Galatasaray and Nesibe. Botas is looking forward to face higher ranked Hatay (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Izmit will play against Besiktas in Istanbul and is hoping to win this game.
