Regular Season Round 3: CSKA - NSA 69-89

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Sofia: NSA (#7) and CSKA (#14). CSKA was crushed at home by 20 points 69-89 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. NSA dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to CSKA's 28. They also forced 19 CSKA turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for guard Martin Petrov (182-1) who led the winners and scored 21 points. Naturalized Syrian power forward Haydar Barakat (196-99) accounted for 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Five NSA players scored in double figures. Forward Georgi Shalamanov (197-1) came up with 17 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Viktor Margaritov (185-2) added 17 points respectively for CSKA in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. NSA will meet at home Balkan 2 (#9) in the next round. CSKA's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sofia to the arena Polytechnica.
