Very expected game when 9th ranked Timberwolves (1-3) were smashed by third ranked Gmunden Swans (3-1) in Vienna 94-55 on Saturday. The game without a history. Gmunden Swans led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Timberwolves' 16. Gmunden Swans forced 20 Timberwolves turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Daniel Friedrich (181-92) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 9 assists and 5 steals. The former international guard Enis Murati (194-88, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Four Gmunden Swans players scored in double figures. Guard Simon Marek (152-1) replied with 15 points and guard Jakob Szkutta (188-99) added 12 points in the effort for Timberwolves. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gmunden Swans have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 3-1 record behind leader Klosterneuburg, which they share with St.Poelten. Timberwolves at the other side dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. Gmunden Swans will face Gunners Oberwart (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Timberwolves will play against UBC St. Poelten in St.Poelten and hope to win that game.
