Regular Season Round 6: Ormanspor - Mersin 100-101

A very interesting game took place in Ankara. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 9th ranked Ormanspor (2-4) to tenth ranked Mersin (3-3) 101-100 on Saturday evening. Mersin forced 19 Ormanspor turnovers. Strangely Ormanspor outrebounded Mersin 46-33 including 20 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian swingman Alina Iagupova (186-92, agency: LBM Management) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 10 assists. British-American power forward Kristine Anigwe (193-97, college: California) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Montenegrin-American forward Angelica Robinson (197-87, college: Georgia) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 22 rebounds and American point guard Riquna Williams (170-90, college: Miami, FL) added 27 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mersin moved-up to sixth place. Ormanspor lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Mersin will have a break next round. Ormanspor will play on the road against Kayseri (#14) and hope to win that game.
