Regular Season Round 1: Schwabach - Bamberg 72-51

Very important is a road loss of Bamberg against Schwabach on Saturday night. Visiting Bamberg was crushed by Schwabach in Schwabach 72-51. They held Bamberg to an opponent 20.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.8 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Bamberg 50-35 including a 39-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Schwabach players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Bamberg's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Deeshyra Thomas (168-95, college: Weber St.) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Center Katharina Kreklau (188) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners. Four Schwabach players scored in double figures. American guard DaJonee Hale (173-94, college: CMU) answered with 14 points and 5 rebounds and forward Eva Marschall (183-91) added 7 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Bamberg. Bamberg's coach Steffen Dauer gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Schwabach's next round opponent will be Rhein Main Baskets in Langen, which may be the game of the day. Bamberg will play on the road against Jahn Muenchen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
