Regular Season Round 5: Mykolaiv - Zaporizhye 66-90

Leader Zaporizhye blasted bottom-ranked Mykolaiv (0-4) in Mykolaiv 90-66 on Sunday evening keeping the perfect record after 5 rounds. Mykolaiv is still unable to win any game. The game was mostly controlled by Zaporizhye. Mykolaiv managed to win third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American point guard Mike Caffey (183-93, college: LBSU, agency: Players Group) nailed 20 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Josh Fortune (196-94, college: Colorado) accounted for 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Fortune is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Zaporizhye players scored in double figures. Canadian-Nigerian guard Keith Omoerah (194-92, college: Manitoba) came up with 20 points and center Oleksandr Kushnirov (210-92) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Mykolaiv in the defeat. Mykolaiv's coach Chris Thomas gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Zaporizhye. They maintain second place with 5-0 record behind leader Kyiv Basket. Mykolaiv lost their fourth game in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost.
