Regular Season Round 6: Prometey - Cherkasy 101-80

Bottom-ranked Cherkasy (0-6) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to third ranked Prometey (5-1) 101-80. It looked good early as Cherkasy took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. Then Prometey had a 22-14 second period charge getting the lead and Cherkasy was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 80-101. Prometey dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Cherkasy's 36. Prometey forced 19 Cherkasy turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Cherkasy helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American guard Marcquise Reed (190-95, college: Clemson, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 4 assists. The other American import forward Mike Myers (206-92, college: UMES, agency: Network Sports International) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Lucky Jones (198-93, college: RMU) replied with 23 points and the former international forward Volodymyr Koniev (203-89) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Cherkasy. Five Prometey and four Cherkasy players scored in double figures. Cherkasy's coach Maksym Mikhelson gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Prometey have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Zaporizhye. Cherkasy at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Prometey's next round opponent will be league's leader Kyiv Basket at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cherkasy will play against Budivelnyk (#9) in Kyiv and hopes to get finally their first victory.
