Regular Season Round 6: Prometey - Ternopil-TNEU 85-83

Important game to mention about took place in Kamianske. Third ranked Prometey (5-1) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 4th ranked Ternopil-TNEU (4-3) 85-83 on Friday evening. Ternopil-TNEU was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 24-18 third quarter run of Prometey. They outrebounded Ternopil-TNEU 37-26 including 22 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American swingman DJ Stephens (195-90, college: Memphis) notched 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the effort and international guard Oleksandr Lypovyy (201-91, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 15 points and 4 assists. Five Prometey players scored in double figures. Prometey's coach Vitaliy Cherniy allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 25 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) by the former international swingman Oleksandr Kolchenko (195-88) did not help to save the game for Ternopil-TNEU. Nigerian power forward Avery Ugba (203-94, college: Austin Peay) added 8 points and 9 rebounds. Prometey have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Zaporizhye. Newly promoted Ternopil-TNEU dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Prometey will play against league's leader Kyiv Basket at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ternopil-TNEU will play against the league's second-placed Zaporizhye (#2) in Zaporozhye and hopes to get back on the winning track.
