Regular Season Round 6: Amager - Vaerlose 83-76

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Vaerlose (2-4) against fourth ranked Amager (1-5) on Saturday night. Visiting Vaerlose was defeated by Amager in a tough game in Kastrup 76-83. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vaerlose. The hosts were ahead by 11 points but lost the second period ending it with a 5-point deficit before their 24-12 run, which allowed them to win the game. Vaerlose was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Oscar Quackenbush (187-99) notched 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and power forward Andreas Hoier (205-95) supported him with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds by international Mathias Christensen (202-95) did not help to save the game for Vaerlose. Point guard Asbjorn Nerlov (197-98) added 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Vaerlose players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Amager maintains fourth position with 1-5 record. Vaerlose at the other side keeps the second place with four games lost. Amager will play against Copenhagen (#5) on the road in the next round. Vaerlose will play against Naestved and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
