There was a minor upset in Istanbul where higher ranked Acibadem (3-3) was defeated by twelfth ranked Afyon Bld (3-3) 76-70 on Saturday. American swingman JP Macura (196-95, college: Xavier) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center Egemen Guven (210-96) chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Five Afyon Bld players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Erick Green (190-91, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Octagon Europe) with 24 points and 6 assists and international forward Burak-Can Yildizli (204-94) scored 8 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Afyon Bld moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Acibadem. Afyon Bld will face Buyukcekmece (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Acibadem will play against Pinar Karsiyaka (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
