Rather predictable result in Mykolaiv where third ranked MBC-Niko 2 (5-1) defeated 6th ranked Dnipro-2 (2-4) 84-72 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by MBC-Niko 2. Dnipro-2 was better in third quarter 26-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Dnipro-2 to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Dnipro-2 46-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. MBC-Niko 2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Swingman Maxim Shepil (196-86) had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Dmytro Likhoy (199-1) chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was Yevhenii Sorochan (197-0) with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Hlib Batalskyi (195-3) scored 12 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. MBC-Niko 2 have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Mariupol and Krivbas. Loser Dnipro-2 keeps the sixth place with four games lost. MBC-Niko 2 will have a break next round. Dnipro-2 will play at home against Prometey-2 (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
