Regular Season Round 7: Zaporizhye - Ternopil-TNEU 74-81

The game between second ranked Zaporizhye (5-2) and fifth ranked Ternopil-TNEU (5-3) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Zaporizhye was defeated by Ternopil-TNEU in a tough game in Zaporozhye 74-81. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 22-8 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Ternopil-TNEU outrebounded Zaporizhye 49-29 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Nigerian power forward Avery Ugba (203-94, college: Austin Peay) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Moldovan Andrei Kalnichenko (201-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Ternopil-TNEU's coach Dmitry Zabirchenko used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Josh Fortune (196-94, college: Colorado) produced 32 points and Andriy Grytsak (198-0) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Ternopil-TNEU and four Zaporizhye players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Ternopil-TNEU maintains fifth place with 5-3 record. Zaporizhye at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Prometey. Ternopil-TNEU are looking forward to face Budivelnyk (#7) in Kyiv in the next round. Zaporizhye will play on the road against the league's second-placed Dnipro (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
