No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Mersin (5-3) defeated on the road 13th ranked Kayseri (1-7) 96-82. They outrebounded Kayseri 51-34 including a 25-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. 28 personal fouls committed by Kayseri helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Ukrainian swingman Alina Iagupova (186-92, agency: LBM Management) who scored that evening 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists and British-American power forward Kristine Anigwe (193-97, college: California) supported her with 18 points and 22 rebounds. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Mersin's coach Ceyhun Yildizoglu allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by American guard Tyasha Harris (178-98, college: S.Carolina) did not help to save the game for Kayseri. International Melis Gulcan (186-96) added 23 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Mersin have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 5-3 record. Kayseri at the other side dropped to the twelfth place with seven games lost. Mersin's next round opponent will be Hatay (#7) at home. Kayseri will play against Elazig (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
