Regular Season Round 8: Dzukija - Nevezis 80-74

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Nevezis (5-3) against ninth ranked Dzukija (2-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Nevezis was defeated by Dzukija in a tough game in Alytus 74-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Nevezis. It looked good early as Nevezis took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Dzukija had a 25-22 second period charge getting the lead and Nevezis was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-80. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Kristupas Zemaitis (192-96) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and Giedrius Staniulis (206-91) who added 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The former international point guard Vaidas Kariniauskas (197-93) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds and Greek swingman Panagiotis Kalaitzakis (197-99) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Dzukija maintains ninth position with 2-6 record. Nevezis at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Dzukija will again play against higher ranked Nevezis (#4) in Kedainiai in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Nevezis will have a break next round.
