The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Povoa as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Povoa edged their biggest opponent Illiabum at home 84-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Illiabum. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The former international point guard Nuno Oliveira (186-89) fired 21 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. American swingman Kameron Williams (190, college: Cornell Coll.) chipped in 18 points. American forward Shannon Hale-Jr (203-94, college: Alabama) produced 22 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Malcolm Walters (188, college: Mercyhurst) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Povoa have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Belenenses CF. Illiabum at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Academia. Illiabum will play next round against strong Sampaense trying to get back on the winning streak. Povoa will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Vasco in Porto.
