Regular Season Round 7: Bursaspor - Turk Telekom 107-108

A very close game took place in Bursa between Turk Telekom and Bursaspor. Third ranked Turk Telekom (6-1) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Bursaspor (3-4). Turk Telekom managed to escape with a 1-point win 108-107 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Turk Telekom shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for Canadian power forward Kyle Wiltjer (208-92, college: Gonzaga) who led his team to a victory scoring 36 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Point guard Can Korkmaz (187-92, agency: BeoBasket) helped adding 14 points and 6 assists. Four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Xavier Munford (193-92, college: URI) responded with 31 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Cameroonian forward Kenny Kadji (211-88, college: Miami, FL, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Bursaspor's coach Tutku Acik rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Turk Telekom. They maintain third place with 6-1 record behind leader Anadolu Efes. Newly promoted Bursaspor dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Turk Telekom will meet at home league's second-placed Fenerbahce in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bursaspor will play against Acibadem (#6) in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
