Regular Season Round 5: Rostock - Ehingen 109-83

Bottom-ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 109-83 loss to second ranked Rostock (4-1) in Rostock. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They shot 64.9 percent from the field and made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Rostock outrebounded Ehingen/Urspringschule 33-18 including a 25-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. Rostock players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Ehingen/Urspringschule's players. Iranian Behnam Yakhchali (194-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 7 assists. Latvian center Ronalds Zakis (209-87) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Rostock players scored in double figures. Rostock's coach Dirk Bauermann felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Christian Oshita (198-97, college: UCSD) answered with 22 points and the other American import Kameron Hankerson (196-98, college: Green Bay) added 22 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) in the effort for Ehingen/Urspringschule. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Rostock. They maintain second place with 4-1 record behind leader Bremerhaven. Ehingen/Urspringschule lost their fourth game in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. Rostock will play against Uni Baskets (#10) in Paderborn in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ehingen/Urspringschule will play at home against Walter Tigers (#12) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
