There was no surprise in Afyonkarahisar where 14th ranked Buyukcekmece (2-5) was defeated by fifth ranked Afyon Bld (4-3) 79-74 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Afyon Bld made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Afyon Bld outrebounded Buyukcekmece 39-26 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Buyukcekmece's players. Mexican Francisco Cruz (191-89, college: Wyoming) fired 31 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The former international center Egemen Guven (210-96) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. American point guard Matt Farrell (185-96, college: Notre Dame) produced 24 points and the other American import Karvel Anderson (188-91, college: RMU) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Afyon Bld maintains fifth place with 4-3 record. Buyukcekmece lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. Afyon Bld will face league's leader Anadolu Efes in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Buyukcekmece will play at home against Pinar Karsiyaka (#4) and hope to win that game.
