Regular Season Round 8: Dnipro - Zaporizhye 82-63

An interesting game for Dnipro (7-1) which hosted in Dnipro one of their biggest challengers Zaporizhye (5-3). Second ranked Dnipro had an easy win 82-63. It looked good early as Zaporizhye took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Dnipro had a 24-11 second period charge getting the lead and Zaporizhye was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 63-82. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Zaporizhye to just 6 points in third quarter. Dnipro made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Vyacheslav Bobrov (203-92) who helped to win the game recording 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and international center Viacheslav Kravtsov (212-87, agency: BeoBasket) who added 8 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Dnipro's coach Denys Zhuravlov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Mike Caffey (183-93, college: LBSU, agency: Players Group) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists and forward Vitali Malchevskiy (203-87) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Dnipro have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 7-1 record having just three points less than leader Kyiv Basket. Zaporizhye lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Prometey. Dnipro will play against K.Sokoly (#8) in Kharkiv in the next round where they are favorite. Zaporizhye will play at home against Prometey (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
