Regular Season Round 7: UBSC Graz - Gmunden 87-88

The most exciting game of round 7 in the BSL took place in Graz. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th ranked UBSC Graz (3-4) to third ranked Gmunden Swans (5-2) 88-87 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of UBSC Graz. UBSC Graz was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 14-9 charge of Gmunden Swans, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Benedikt Guettl (190-94) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international guard Daniel Friedrich (181-92) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Five Gmunden Swans players scored in double figures. American guard Stanley Whittaker (183-94, college: Keiser) answered with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import forward Nick McGlynn (203-96, college: Drake) added 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for UBSC Graz. Gmunden Swans moved-up to second place. UBSC Graz at the other side keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Gmunden Swans are looking forward to face UBC St. Poelten (#4) in St.Poelten in the next round. UBSC Graz will play on the road against Kapfenberg Bulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
