Regular Season Round 6: Paderborn - Rostock 96-107

There was no surprise in Paderborn where 10th ranked Uni Baskets (2-4) were defeated by second ranked Rostock (5-1) 107-96 on Saturday. Rostock shot 60.4 percent from the field and made 35-of-37 free shots (94.6 percent) during the game. Estonian Rain Veideman (192-91) scored 32 points (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Iranian Behnam Yakhchali (194-95) chipped in 26 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Demetrius Ward (188-90, college: W.Michigan) with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import center John Bryant (211-87, college: Santa Clara) scored 21 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Uni Baskets' coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rostock have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 5-1 record having just one point less than leader Bremerhaven. Loser Uni Baskets keep the tenth place with four games lost. They share the position with Bayer Giants. Rostock will meet at home MLP Academics Heidelberg (#5) in the next round. Uni Baskets will have a break next round.
