Important game to mention about took place in Sao Joao. Sixth ranked Sampaense (2-2) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Sanjoanense (2-2) 79-77 in the fight for the fourth place. American forward Desmond Ringer (206-94, college: Mercer) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points, 21 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the effort and the other American import guard Skyler Hogan (196-97, college: SEMO) supported him with 31 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Scott Plaisance (206-96, college: New Orleans) did not help to save the game for Sanjoanense. Joao Lucas (195-96) added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Sampaense moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Sanjoanense. Sampaense will play against Sangalhos (#6) on the road in the next round. Sanjoanense will play against Vasco in Porto and hopes to get back on the winning track.
