Regular Season Round 7: Jena - Karlsruhe PS 78-52

The game in Jena supposed to be quite interesting. 4th placed Lions (3-3) played at the court of sixth ranked Science City Jena (3-1). Science City Jena smashed Lions 78-52 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lions. Science City Jena dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Lions' 22. They outrebounded Lions 44-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Demarcus Holland (190-94, college: Texas) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Julius Wolf (203-93) helped adding 12 points and 10 rebounds. Holland is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Science City Jena's coach Frank Menz felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Czech center Adam Pechacek (206-95) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Nils Schmitz (186-1) scored 11 points and 5 assists. Science City Jena moved-up to third place. Lions at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Science City Jena are looking forward to face league's leader Eisbaeren Bremerhaven on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lions will play against Bayer Giants (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
