The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Rheinland as it allowed them to take a leadership position in North. Rheinland smashed bottom-ranked Goettingen in Bergisch Gladbach 84-36. Rheinland dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Goettingen's 22. Rheinland forced 19 Goettingen turnovers and outrebounded them 28-15 including 19 on the defensive glass. American power forward Brianna Rollerson (185-94, college: Creighton) nailed 25 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and her fellow American import guard Rachel Theriot (183-94, college: Nebraska, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) accounted for 10 points. Four Rheinland players scored in double figures. Point guard Lea Nguyen (170-0) came up with 8 points and Franziska Hadaschik (176-96) added 7 points respectively for Goettingen in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Newly promoted Goettingen still closes the standings with three games lost. Goettingen will play next round against strong Duesseldorf trying to get back on the winning streak. Rheinland will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked TG Neuss on the road.
